Is father liable for 16yr old daughters accident?

I live in oklahoma, my boyfriends 16 yr. old daughter was involved in an accident. they say it was her fault. She had 2 friends in the car. She and her friend were bruised from the airbags. She did not have insurance, even though her father had givien the money to her mother to get. She got her self insurance but not her daughter. Can he be sued for it, even though she lives with her mother. He is worried that he can lose everything he owns, and has worked his life for. I hope someone can help thanks.

My response:

If the car isn't in his name, then no. The responsible party is the parent that has primary custody. Also, the daughter can be sued, too.

In whose name is the car registered? Was the daughter listed on the mom's insurance policy as a driver? Is the girl licensed to drive?
