I have been approached to be an expert witness against Firestone. I was an employee of Bridgestone Firestone at the Aiken, SC plant for 2.3 years as a process engineer. My main duties were process improvement and quality issues. What could I expect to be reimbursed for being a expert witness in a case against Firestone???

My response:

You should ask for, and receive, a $5,000.00 retainer fee, plus $500.00 per hour for Deposition time (portal to portal), plus travel expenses (First Class - always, plus room and board), and report writing. You charge $5,000.00 (minimum) per half-day for trial testimony and $9,000.00 per full day of actual trial testimony. You always get your money UP FRONT by giving estimates for writing time and testimony time. Then you bill for any overage time. YOU DON'T DO ANYTHING WITHOUT BEING PAID, FIRST, AND UP FRONT (Except Depositions, where the opposing party pays you at the Deposition, and before you utter your first word).
