What is the name of your state? live in indiana accident in illinois.

while parked at a marina in illinois a car backed a boat into side of my jimmy causing considerbal damage. I have accident report with name and address of both the vehicle owner and driver but no insurance info. according to police they do not need to provide info on private property in illinois. after making no progess sending letters to those responsible what are my options. My insurance company will only help if i have proof driver is uninsured. but I can't get that per this stupid illinois law.

thanks for any advice

Sue the person that hit your vehicle. Their insurance will be oblgated to defend them and pay any awarded claim up to the policy limits.
