Help needed, T-boned, Insured, Not at fault

What is the name of your state? Virginia

Ok, I have so many questions but ill keep it quite short. basically I was t-boned by a little nissan car. My 95 blazer flipped on its hood and skidded for about 45 feet. Anyways I got injured. At first my hand was cut up and filled with glass, thigh bruised, bruised ribs and mild, long term neck injury. Now I guess my first question is, should i get a lawyer or go it alone with family? Next, I had a 10,000 medical car insurance plan and thats basically how im paying my DR's Bills. I have a HMO Health insurance and My primary care doctor will not give me refferals to see any neck specialists because they say its up to my car insurance to pay for the bills and that my medical insurance is not going to pay for the bill anyways if they do give the referals. I personally dont think they are right but cant find any information on that issue. Help would be GREAT!!. Moving on. Its almost been a year sence the accident and im very unorganized with the bills and submitting them to my insurance and the other persons insurance. Im 27 and going by my dads words, "maby other people would get lawyers but were not brought up that way". I think we just need a lawyer to just get things organized and basically not get screwed in the long run and left with thousands in bills. Ok any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks frankie

You do not need referrals to see a specialist when your auto policy is paying the bills. Just go.

A lawyer would indeed make your life easier. And he would take 33-40% of your settlement. It's up to you whether that would be worth it.

Well you will almost certainly get a higher offer if you have an attorney. Impossible to say HOW much higher, or whether it will be enough to offset his fee. You are welcome to give it a go on your own, but don't wait too long; if it's 3 months before the SOL is up, it will be hard to find someone willing to take your case.
