While at a large restaraunt/bar/gaming public place for my work`s christmas dinner, my wife was sitting next to me. While we were eating, a large table that was stood lengthwise against the wall behind her, and hidden behind a curtain fell forward and hit my wife on the head neck and back causing her to be knocked momentarily unconscious. I took her to the hospital immediatly and they said she suffered a concuscion and damage to her neck, back and arm. This was three weeks ago and she has been bed ridden since with heavy pain medication. She has not been able to do anything physical since then and the doctors may want to do exploratory surgeory. We are currently thinking about seeking an attorney to sue this establishment for damages, if so do we have a case? there were over 20 witnesses that saw the accident and about 9 that saw the employees move the table behind the curtain. What type of dollar amount should my wife ask for that would be adequate to cover her for short term and long term effects? including medical bills of all sorts. Or what general ball park could she bee looking at? This place wants to settle due to admitting it was their fault and they dont want the bad publicity.

Well, sounds pretty rock solid, question ishow much will you get? Depends, how much damage was done to you and how much your attorney thinks you can get. Let me make a false or fly by the seat of my pants guess...could be a dollar or could be 2 million. How much did the guy from the hot coffee in the lap get? Anyoneknow?

Anyone have a good guess?

Hope you feel better)

PLEASE, do NOT settle yet!

I had to respond to your post, since something very similar happened to me, about seventeen years ago. I don't know if this "gambling" place was in Nevada or not, but while working for a casino in Nevada, I suffered a head injury from a walkin refrigerator that the casino KNEW was messed up, and ended up having brain surgery six months later. PLEASE, until your wife's condition is totally stable, don't even consider settling. I had no idea anything was wrong, for months after my accident. I hope she has been seen by a neurosurgeon. You can't take this kind of injury seriously enough, and, since the laws in Nevada are very different from most states (because the casinos put big money into the whole scheme), it is sooo important to find a good attorney that you trust. You are absolutely right, they don't want the publicity, and most of the casinos have never had a case go to court. My attorney promised me about three million dollars, and then let the statute of limitations run out (ya think maybe the casino was in his pocket? Who knows). Anyway, feel free to email me privately, I'd hate to see you get screwed like I did.
