hit and run

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? indiana

friday i hit a car. obviously, it wasn't intentional. the guy got out of his car and ran towards my truck yelling he was going to "kick my ass". i panicked, put the truck in drive, and ran. stupid, i know, but it gets even more stupid. i have no insurance and my license has been suspended. what possible repercussions am i facing? first offense and i've not been in trouble before.

If they have your license plate or description, count on:
1) A visit from the police or sheriff to question you about a CRIME, and
2) A visit from the police, sheriff or a private process server with notice of a lawsuit having been filed against you.

Of course, you don't have to worry about your guilty conscience and moral or ethical dilemma, since you clearly have no conscience, morality and/or ethics.

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

How was it not intentional?

okay

that's a bit harsh, don't you think?

what's that the bible says? "judge not lest ye be judged" isn't it.

all i asked for was what legal ramifications there are for this. i didn't ask to be insulted.

Wait till you get to court.

JETX will remind you of a sweet momma's lullaby compared to court.

pretty sure accident means unintentional, and i know no one who would intentionally hit a car.

details are i was leaving a parking space and he came up behind me rather quickly.

Well if your license and insurance were in order, I'd tell you to go to the police and tell them what happened. Things being as they are, you might just want to cross your fingers and hope for the best. If you were identified, you can expect to get tickets for driving with a suspended license and without insurance, your suspension will be extended, and you will have to pay for all the damage you caused before your license can be restored. Expect it to be very very expensive.

If he was BEHIND you, then how did you hit him?

(This is important...we need some facts here. Stop making us pull teeth.)

Obviously because OP backed up into him.

I have a very, VERY small degree of sympathy for you being scared of the other driver. But you shouldn't have been on the road in the first place; so it still should never have happened. Like I said, it's probably going to be a multi-thousand dollar lesson, so I don't need to chastize you any more then your wallet will.

On the off chance you did not get identified, you should not take the good karma for granted; if you can't get your license restored, at LEAST get insurance to protect yourself (and everyone else) in case of an accident. You can get insurance even if your license is suspended, it just costs more.
