Hit And Run HELP PLEASE

What is the name of your state? CA

I was in a hit and run. The Van in fornt of me broke really hard and stopped 1 to 2 car lenths away from the next car, i tried to break as hard as i can to stop but i slide into his car, i was doing speed limit of 35. I got scared and left, after driving half a mile my mind cleared and i stopped and waited for the other driver. When he cought up, we started to talk. I said i am sorry and i tried to give him my insurance information, but he wouldn't take it, and he would give me his. When we talked he was clam and somking. I asked him what he wanted to do, and he said that he'll take car of his own car and while he was getting back into the car i said thank you and asked if he got my cr plates down and he said now(which i know now is a lie) and we shook hands and he left. When i got home and told my parents, my dad said that he would call a shop to fix it asap because i needed a car to drive to school. the next day the car was gone and a police officer comes to my house as i was leaving for school. I started to freak out because i never had to deal with the police before, and when he asked me if i was in an accident i said no and that my friend had my car. Then i started to think as my head cleared, and i said to myself that i would get in deeper sh*t by lying so i told him the truth. The officer said that in the ploice report, said that i never stopped for the other drive and i never talked to him, which is a total lie. The the officer said that i would have to go to the station, but i had school, so he said i would have to go to the station before 5pm. Before i went to the startion, i went to a lawyer and he said not to talk. When i went to the police station i told the officer that was at my house that i didn't want to talk. He said that sure you didn't have to talk so just leave and i'll put in the paper work for your arrest warrent. As i left the station i called the lawyer i went to and he said that he warrent would be sent to my house and i'd pay a fine. After that day i called my insurance co, Allstate and told them everything. My friend that was riding with me got his plates down for me. I thought that they would take care of the money issuse with the other driver. But i did not get anything in the mail, and 2 months later, 2 different officers came to take me to jail. while i was in jail they gave me a Pre Booking Information Sheet. Code (VC), Circ (1), Section (20001 (a)(b)(i)-Hit and Run), Bail ($5,000), F/M/I/C (M). When i finally got out on bail the next day i went to a new lawyer and he said that it was a misdemeanor and that the other driver is claiming that he is hurt. While at the lawyer's office we called allstate and asked what happened with the claim. The said that, they have sent him 2 claims and he has not talked to them. At which point my lawyer said that he might is trying to get money off of my family or the insurance co. And for him being hurt, it is not true because i saw him walk around fine and smoking and the damages totaled was only $900 with labor. My first court date passed, but my lawyer said i wouldn't have to show up so i didn't go becuase i had school. When i got home and talked to my lawyer, he said that they want me to spend 6 months in jail. My lawyer is trying to lower it so that i do no jail time. My questions are:

What will happen to me?
Can the other driver lie on the report like that?
And if he is cought lying on the report what till happen, will the case be dropped or what?

It is our unanimous opinion that you are damn right and it should be obvious to any moron that your (ex) (SO’s ex) (boss) (landlord) (local police) should be immediately (jailed) (fired) (reprimanded) (arrested) (demoted) (shot) (evicted).
In fact, you are so astonishingly correct in this matter, it will not surprise us one bit if you are offered a generous settlement, because, by golly, that’s just how it should be.
