How does this work?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
Hello, I've found this forum to be super helpful in the Family Law section. This is my first posting to this particular forum.
My husband was t-boned after another driver ran a red light. His car was totaled. Our insurance company has written off the car. The other driver has insurance through State Farm. Will they automatically contact my husband to talk about a settlement, or does he have to file something through them first? He has whiplash and has been going to a chiropractor three times a week. Accident happened a couple of weeks ago. He has chiro appointments through until the end of june. xrays show damage. He had never been to a chiro before at all. The chiro said they were going to bill for services through the other driver's insurance.

The other driver's insurance can't and WON'T pay his medical bills directly. You don't even know whether they've accepted fault. Did the other driver ADMIT to running the red light, or was there a witness confirming it?

Sorry, it's Texas.
The police charged the other driver with running a red light. My husband was not charged with anything.
