How long untill he cant make me pay?

New York.

Ok, A few days i ago i put a small scratch in somebody's car, i wasnt driving my car, i did it with my lacrosse stick by accident.

But the person said they didn't take it to get fixed because they need to fix something else first.

How long untill i dont have to pay for the scratch i put in the car?

note: it wasnt a large scratch it was probably a 15 dollar wax job

A scratch in paint can not be fixed with a was job, and a good wax job would cost more than $15 most places. His deductible may be higher than the fix is why he wants you to pay for it instead of turning it in to insurance. I don't understand what he has to 'fix' before he can collect money from you to 'fix' this. He should go get a couple of estimates and show them to you and you pay him.
