hum....

I was backing out with my friend's car from a one lane parking lot, and I didn't realize that there was a car parked behind me. Yes I bumped into it and damaged the area of upper right wheel. I was driving a SUV, and I must have hit the car with the spare tire attached to the car. Well. the car I hit was parked in a fire lane( I mentioned it was a one lane parking area) and on top of that the car was parked at least a feet away from the side curve. I would have never been able to get out without hitting it. The question is who is at fault? I do realize about my mistakes..... but will the other car be responsible for any of this?

I didn't realize my insurance don't cover the other car because I was driving my friend's car.

My response:

You're 100% at fault. It doesn't matter that the other car was illegally parked. All because it was, doesn't give you any right to hit it.

One of the "definitions" of negligence in auto accidents is - - "Those who look, but don't see, are negligent."
