husband witholds MY insurance check

What is the name of your state? MA

I was involved in an accident with my car and my husband is witholding the check from me, because he wants to ask his lawyer for advice.

This isn't a legal issue -- it's a moral one, and now both of us have to pay exorbanent lawyer fees to solve this conflict.

The check cannot be deposited without him since the insurance is in our names. If I ask the insurance company to stop payment then they may want the check back... then neither of us get the check.

Please tell me how I can get insurance money to fix my car. I have a good lawyer, BUT is it possible to avoid getting the lawyers involved?
