I damaged my roomates car

MICHIGAN

I was moving my roomates car and hit the side of the garage putting a dent in her fender. She said the damage was about $300. There was no police report or claim on her insurance. Can she make me pay for the damages?

You caused the damage that makes you liable.

Damages

So if she takes me to court would I have to pay any more than the damages? Court fees ect? Sorry, I know this doesn't sound nice but she's not a nice person and she screwed me over with money in other situations.

If she sues, you are then also responsible for court costs and/or any attorney fees.

It's $300. Pay it and be done with her, but get it in writing for your own protection later on. If you can prove she owes you money, get her to pay you back. But, those are two separate issues--you still owe the money right now.

She would have to pay a fee for filing the case and the cost of serving the summons. If she wins the case then you would pay those other fees on top of the jugement.

You would be better off trying to work it out with her.
