If you let a friend drive your car, they are not on your insurance and they get in an accident does the insurance company have to pay?

You didn't post your state, but in the US, in most cases, anyone who has permission to drive your car will be covered.

Thought that went without saying. I don't feel the need to give especially explicit answers to vague questions.

You've been here how many years and still assume that people have common sense?

The state is MD and the insurance company isnt paying the claim. They told me directly that if you lend your car to someone/anyone they are not covered unless they are named on the insurance policy.

Do you and your friend share a residence? How frequently did you let your friend borrow the car?

First, what are they not paying for? Your car or the other person's or both? Second, you need to read your policy and see what the definition of an "insured person" is.
