Inactive ins. policy 6 months later still being charged

What is the name of your state? California
I was dropped from my insurance policy, Dec. of last year, due to an at fault accident. I also received letters in the mail to confirm this. On the 18th of May, I noticed over $800 was deducted from my account the night before. After realizing it was my old insurance, I checked my bank statements to see if it happened before. It did! In the month of April they deducted over $800 dollars as well. I immediately contacted them to resolve the issue and have contacted them 3 times since, in a 7 day period. And still, it has not been resolved. I keep getting the run around. What action can I take? I don't know whether to contact the better business bureau, take them to small claims or get a lawyer...?

no suggestions from anyone?? ...if I went into the bank and took that money. The money would immidiately be confiscated (if found) and I would be sent to jail. But since it was an insurance company that did it, is there really nothing I can do?? will appreciate any suggestions. thank you

contact the Department of Insurance and make a complaint against your carrier.
