In Maryland: I fell as a result of stepping into a pothole. Restuarant owner accepted liability and insurance co. has pd all hospital and Dr. Bills only up to $5,000. Now in 90 day waiting period (?) then must negotiate for pain and suffering. I had a very bad fracture of ankle and also have a pre-existing condition (Fibromyalgia) which has been exacerbated by the trauma of both the injury and subsequent surgery on my ankle.

Should I hire an attorney to negotiate for pain and suffering or attempt to do so myself. If I do so, what is a fair and reasonable figure to negotiate for?
