I'M FROM INDIANA, AND RECEIVED A CHECK MADE PAYABLE TO ME BY MY CAR INSURANCE COMPANY IN ERROR. IF I CASH THIS CHECK, IS THERE A WAY I CAN BE SUED TO BE MADE TO RETURN THIS MONEY? IT HAS MY CORRECT NAME,ADDRESS,AND POLICY NUMBER ON THE CHECK. SO IF IT'S THEIR ERROR, DOES THIS MEAN THE MONEY'S MINE?

My response:

If you know the check was drawn in error, then the money can never be yours. The insurance company will find the error eventually, and demand reimbursement from you. You should consider mailing the check back to them.

Good luck.
