Can a person use money received from their insurance company to pay to get their car out of repossession and then pay for the repairs out of their pocket later w/o violating any law or w/o the body shop doing anything illegal by releasing some of the insurance monies?

The auto insurance company owes you the amount of money necessary to repair the car, and UNLESS THERE IS A LOAN ON IT it is your choice as to repair or not. IF THERE IS A LOAN, the loan company has rights to have the proceedsused to repair the car so its security interrets in the car is not impaired.
