Insurance claim on stollen car

What is the name of your state? CA

Hello,

My car was stolen last week from school. I immediately called the police and registered a claim with my insurance company. My car was found the next day with my car deck and sub-woofer slolen and my carpet ripped off. The worst damage was to the body because it was scratched and dented in places. I conveyed this to my insurance company.

They sent an appraiser to take a look at my car. After looking at the car, the appraiser actually blamed me for trying to pull an insurance scam because he said the windows weren't broken and he can't figure out how someone could've stolen the car.

Since then i've filled out an affidavit of theft form that my insurance company sent me and also sent them a copy of the repair estimate (about 2.5K) and a copy of the police report.

Since then i haven't heard from my insurance. I have classmates who will testify that i was with them the whole day and i drove to school with my cousin. I have a feeling that my insurance company thinks i had something to do with the theft.

My question is how long should i wait before calling them? How long can the insurance company wait before it is forced by the state to settle my claim? How long does an investigaiton for car theft take before the police decide to call it a "cold case"?

Thanks.
