    insurance company responsabilties

What is the name of your state?california
I got in a car accident a couple weeks ago. A guy in a brand new truck run a stop sign and rear end me. the cost of fixing my car is more than the actual cost of my car.
I only have minimun coverage, but the person that run into me has full coverage.
I'm trying to rent a car to go to work, but their insurance company is telling me that I have to pay for the rental first and then they might refund me. Is that truth or are they suppose to pay for it right away?
    thanks

    It is very common....

and is referred to as reimbursement. You pay the bill, send a printed copy to the insurance company, and they send you a check. They typically pay for up to a comparable car as yours, so be careful assuming what they will pay for, as they may not think a Ford Taurus is comparable to your honda Civic, etc... (You didn't mention what you drove).

If the money is too much of a burden, see if you can set up a direct billing. Enterprise rent a car has this with a few different insurance companies, so you may try that if you have to.

    good luck.
