Insurance will not pay until AFTER release

6 weeks ago was in an accident, other party ticketed. Leg dislocated, x-rays, no break decided to wait it out and try exercise, tried to keep leg as straight as possible, did not work leg continued to lock up (even while turning over in sleep). So far I have only incurred 400 in med, I have to have surgery and it will be around 5000, not to mention the time it will take to recover, other insurance company states they will not reimburse me until I sign a release, I do not want to sign release of course untill after the surgery to make sure they pay for it. I really cannot afford to pay any more out of pocket yet will if I must. My question is are they not obligated to pay as bills come in? They admit fault of thier client, offered me 500 and the money I was out for x-ray IF I sign release. tia

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. In your position, I wouldn't sign anything from the insurance company. It sounds like they are trying to pull a fast one to me. Get a competent personal injury lawyer ASAP and try to stay away from the ones that bellow, "CASH! CASH! CASH!" on television commercials. Best of luck to ya!
