What is the name of your state? Michigan

A friend was in a one car auto accident about two months ago. She sustained injuries to her face and head.
An MRI was taken roughly four hours after the accident. It showed no bleeding in her brain.
About 3-4 weeks after the accident, she started having headaches. They got progressively worse. She would mention this to her physician and he tried various treatments & pain medications, but no additional films were taken of her head.
Roughly 8 weeks after the accident, she could no longer stand the pain. She was vomiting and couldn't even stand, she hurt so bad.
She was taken to an ER where a CT scan showed a very large clot in her brain. Emergency surgery was performed.
The physicians indicated that due to the size and nature of the clot, it was probably a slow bleed from the accident.

Her auto insurance is denying payment as it was too long after the accident and they do not feel it is a related claim.
Her health insurance is denying payment as injuries related to auto accidents are not covered in a no fault state.
The bill is in excess of 50K.

What is her best course of action? Should she retain a lawyer to make one of the insurance companies pay?
Is it possible to make one of the insurance companies pay?
She doesn’t have much money, could her legal fees be included in any payment arrangement?
What kind of lawyer (specialty) would be best suited for this type of work?
