Isn't it over when they settle with my auto insurance company?

My insurance company has settled with the plantiff already. I now receive a letter from the plantiff's lawyer asking for a court appearance in what seems to be a civil suit hearing.

I thought this issued was settled. What to do now?

My response:

You're being sued for more than your insurance coverage that you purchased. You have 30 days from the date you were served with the Summons and Complaint to respond to the complaint. Turn those papers over to your insurance company, immediately. They still owe you a defense, despite the fact that your coverage is exhausted. That's why you're paying premiums.
