Liability for Fiancee's accident

I am getting married in June 2003. My financee has just recieved a summons due to an accident she was involved in. She T-boned a car in an intersection. One of the occupants (Doctor) was sevearly injured, and has not returned to work. His son was not injured but also is listed as a plantiff along with his mother. Niether of the drivers were cited for the accident. The doctor ran the red light while making a left turn in a hidden intersection.
The intersection has had history of many other accidents. In addition, the timing of the lights in the intersection are in question because the lights turn quickly from red to green for traffic traveling in different directions.

Question:1 What is my liability once we get married? ( I am in the process of getting a prenuptial to protect my assests) Will that cover me as long as we keep assets separate?

Question: 2 What is the extent of her liability? She has insurance but we are afraid they might go after more. The City and Caltrans has also been included in the lawsuit. She does not own any property.

I know this is free advice, but since you could have a large debt overhanging your marriage, you really should spend a few dollars on a lawyer, they have a low or no cost consultations , call your local bar association.

And seriously consider postponing the wedding untill after the trial,or settlement, which could be a long long time down the road.

It's possible they are betting on her putting up a big stink, about delaying a june romantic wedding, (which you would not do, for fear of possibly losing her) so they can get at your assets.
