Liability question

My friend was involved in an accident while driving my car. I had the minimum liability for my state (OR) and the damage he has caused is $8k more than the policy limit.

My insurance is willing to pay only the policy limit, but I and my friend are being sued for the difference . Am I liable? What other options do I have?

Yes, you're both liable.

I would file a cross-complaint for "Indemnity" against your friend if I were you.
