This happened in Virginia, I was hit by a truck who failed to yield right of way. The driver was cited and convicted in traffic court. I was severely injured, my medical costs are nearly 200K and growing. Driver of truck just turned 18 and owns a 2000 model truck (NY plates stationed in navy D.C.). He only has minimum insurance and I do not carry un/underinsured coverage. I was told this case has million dollar potential, but his insurance is only liable for minimum 25K. If we sue, he is ready to declare bankrupcy. Can his parents/navy be liable? What is the best approach? Are there any avenues to go after his insurance company? How could he have purchased a brand new truck without co signer/ would cosigner be liable? Please advise...Thanks
