Is this my fault, and if so do I have to pay?

Maine

I had parked on a hill next to my friends new saab, and my girlfriend had opened the passenger door, but it is an older car and the heavy door got away from her. It left a dent on his car that is under both of our insurence claim points.there was 3 feet between the vihicles, just the door can open up larger than that. Is it my fault if both of the cars were parked on the hill? and do i have to pay for it?

Either you or your girlfriend need to pay for the damage to your friend's new car. Quit trying to figure out how to absolve yourself from any responsibility. You admit your girlfriend lost control of the door when she was opening it. How would you like it if the same thing happened to your car and the person causing the damage tried to weasel out of paying for the damage?

This is a life lesson on doing the right thing which is taking responsibility and being accountable for your actions.
