My Insurance Stole My Stereo

What is the name of your state? MASSACHUSETTS I got in an accident and then called my insurance agency right away. They then said to bring it to an auto body shop of my choice and further send someone down and see the damage. After, they said they would contact me to go over the results. I told them I wanted the stereo equipment in the car, totalling around 500$ with reciepts, out before anything went through and not to include it in the appraisal, because I would put the original back in. They said that was fine. I waited about a week and I didn't hear anything so I contacted them and they said they were still handling the claim. I continued to call for another week or so, even through shifting of different people handling my one claim, to finally get an answer that my car was considered totalled and they took it to a salvage lot. I reminded them that I wanted my stereo equip. out and if I could go to the salvage lot and take it out. They said no because it was later sold. Luckily the guy at the auto shop was nice enough to take off my plates because the insurance comp. would have taken those and I would have had to pay for them at the registry. I was furious that they went from "take it to a body shop for appraisal" to "your car was sold". They left me no time to take any of my stuff. Now I'm out my 10 month old system and them denying me. They said the auto body shop said it was ok to take the car, but the auto body shop said the insur. just came and took it saying it was thiers. Lastly, they said they just took it cuz they couldn't contact me within a week but I continued to contact them with continued "we'll get back to you". Now what do I do. I just wanted my stuff it's not even about the money. But now since my car is gone I do want my money's worth. I told them from the get go that I wanted it out and not include it in the appraisal and they said it was fine. But obviously not. Hopeless, Amanda

You mean to tell us that your company totalled and salvaged your car and sold your car without YOU signing over the title????? Never heard of that one!
