please help...my wife was in an accident.....

What is the name of your state? New Jersey
She had the accident in Pa. and we did not know anyone in the area to recomend a good repair facility. They quoted our insurance company that the car would take no longer than 7-8 days to be repaired. It is now over a month and they keep telling us it will be a few more days. My problem is not that the car is taking so long (ok its that too) but that my insurance company now tells me they will no longer pay for my wifes rental car. So I have to pay the deductable and probably around the same amount for a rental car. Is there any thing I can do? Is insurance required to handle this? Is the auto repair shop liable because they did not finish the job in the amount of time they quoted?
