| (State is ND) - Hi!
Several months ago you provided great help when my 3 yr. old fell in the bathtub in a hotel. We got an attorney right away, but I got some questions for you anyway:
My daugher just completed a neuropsychological evaluation and was found to have PTSD, she needs therapy once a week for 3-6 months for her anxiety and emotional distress and has a 30% chance of suffering another seizure because she had one right after the fall. Another evaluation before she starts school was also recommended.
The hospital bill from the fall (CT-scan, etc.) has still not been paid!! At first our own insurance co. wouldn't have anything to do with it, till our attorney wrote them a letter. Then we had to sign a letter of subjugation with them. We did that 8 weeks ago, but to this date the bills have still not been paid and we now received a letter from a collection agency (start of ruining our excellent credit rating). Today we have to go to our attorney's office, because our ins.co. wants statements from us regarding the fall.
Our attorney is advising us to let it all run its course - he is basically saying "Let them ruin your credit rating". Is that really a good idea?
Could the whole bill issue be put on ice if our attorney wrote a Letter of Protection to the medical providers?
Would it better to just pay that bill ourselves and leave our insurance co. totally out of this mess?
It's like we now also have to fight our own insurance co.!
Thank you in advance! |
