I was involved in an auto accident and when I called to report it to my insurance company, they informed me I had been cancelled. I was not notified of this, nor was the finance company, and when they ran my name at the accident it didn't show I was cancelled. My question is, what are the laws in New Jersey with insurance companies notifying you of a cancelled policy? Are they required to notify the finance company, or the DMV, or the policy holder? If so, how long do they have? I've heard different answers and am quite confused. Please help.
