No auto insurance

My wife had an accident with a 18 y/o girl in a parking lot. It was established that she (the 18 y/o) was at fault. When my wife called this girl's ins. co, we were told that they did not have valid auto ins. We went to small claims court in Suffolk County and won a judgement against the owner of the vehicle (the mother of this child). These people have ignored the judgement. What are my alternatives. Can I still pursue this thru my ins. company. The process of geting the Suffolk Co. Sheriff involved is very confusing. Any suggestions ? Isn't there some sort of penalty for not having auto insurance, how is this pursued ?

depends on the state. it's ususally a fine or a suspended license. but why do you care? even if it is a fine, they won't give you the money. it goes to the state.
