What is the name of your state?
New Jersey

My wife was hit by a motorist who ran a stop sign. A police officer wittnessed the accident and the motorist admitted she was at fault. The motorist was insured but our policy had expired. Does the motorists' insurance have to pay for repairs to our vehicle?

They should, but dont be in a hurry since they know you have no insurance and hence no lawyer for them to deal with.

Also you should think about learning the bus routes or riding bikes together, since her license will be suspened for lack of insurance, and when you try and get some, New Jersey has the HIGHEST high risk premiums in the nation....

So it may be a far far cheaper alternative to forget about repairing the car for a long time.

Move closer to work or public transportation.
