No Insurance and in accident

My Boyfriend was in an accident with my car and I didnt have insurance on it. The other driver was issued a wreckless driving ticket because it was their fault the officers said. My insurance was expired and I didnt realize it. The insurance card said it expired two months ago but the officers didn't say anything about it. I have major damage to my car and I do not know what to do. Please help with any suggestions.

Thanks

accident with no insurance

Does anyone think it is possible for my the body shop my brother works at to go after the other drivers insurance company for repairs or should I just leave it alone. There is at least 5,000 dollars damage to my car.

IMHO the other driver should be responsible however the big quesion is WHY DIDN'T YOU CONTINUE YOUR COVERAGE????? Does no one realize this is the biggest reason our rates are so high? Uninsured Motorist (and stupid lawsuits)!!!!! Well maybe you didn't "receive your bill" or whatever but what happens if you don't get your power or phone bill? You still pay it to keep your service, right? Why should insurance be any different????????

I'm not in your state and I do not know your state's laws, but in my state the at-fault insurance pays for the damages to the other person's auto. Does that not apply in your state? Have you filed a claim with the other driver's insurance company? You can get a copy of the accident report which should have the insurance info on it, if you don't know the other insurance carrier's name. If applicable, then submit an estimate of repairs to the other insurance company.
Be glad the driver of your car wasn't at fault!
and, IAAL, who may know your state, said to go to small claims court, so apparently, IAAL thinks you can collect from the other driver. Good luck.

Is there anyone closer to home or familiar with my state laws in jersey that can give me their opinion. The body shop wants to submit a claim once I get the information.
