What is the name of your state? New York
I received a letter through the US Post, regular mail outlining charges
filed against me and the rental car company who's van i was driving for a minor car accident just under 3 years ago.
I know the statute of limitations is 3 years in New York and no papers
have been "served" to me through any certified or registered service.
If I do not respond and three years expire, can this a**hole still try to
claim several million dollars from me? He'd be lucky to get $5. with the money I make.

So what did your or the rental company's insurance say about the accident when it happened 3 years ago?

Or let me guess, you had no insurance and did not get it insured through the rental company, did you?
