older car total loss, still driveable,

What is the name of your state? Alabama
Other driver has accepted liability. Car is technically worth nothing on paper. Insurance company should have been out at least 2,500 for repairs plus the cost of 2 weeks car rental (estimated time for repair). What is the insurance company's legal responsibilty? Car is mechanically ok, damage all cosmetic.
