Parking Garage damage by neighbor

What is the name of your state? NJ

The woman who parks next to me in our apartment's parking garage damaged the front of my car. She left a note on my car admitting fault and her cell number. I called her and she put me in touch with her father who owns and insures the car.

At initial glance it just looked like minor scratches so based on his daughter's assessment of the damage he opted not to go through his insurance and asked for me to provide him with some quotes for the repairs.

The first quote was $1000 and the second was $1500+ as it turns out that the bumper, headlight and wing all need replacing. Since informing him of these quotes I suggested he now go through his insurance. It sounded like he agreed and would get back to me after speaking with his insurance company.

A week later (and two weeks since the incident) and he won't return my calls, voicemails and numerous messages left with his admin and wife.

I have no definite insurance details from him or a police report (as the damage looked minor). What are my options? Thanks in advance.

File a claim with your insurance, give them the note and any other correspondence, records of calls you made including the two estimates. Then sue the girl AND her father for the deductible .
