What is the name of your state? CA

A few days ago I had a fender-bender in a parking lot. I was backing out of a spot and didn't see the car behind me. I hit his driver side door. My car has only a scratch but his door had some rubs on it. No physical injuries to him or me. I'm attempting to settle outside of insurance since I was in a large accident on the freeway a few weeks ago and don't want to open another claim. Everything has been very amicable and he got two estimates for me. One was $714 and the other $757. I'm guessing I will just shell out the 714 and then ask him to fax me the reciept for his repairs. I just need some advice. Am I doing everything right? What should I be worried about?

how closely do rental car companies check out their cars when returned? I have a minor scratch on the bumper but nothing else is very noticable.

My response:

Ladies, that "Release" is useless outside of California. Find one that quotes your State's laws.

Rental car agents inspect incoming cars very closely upon return.

IAAL

OUCH!!!!...Were you at fault in the other?

YEP, IAAL......But FL is a No-fault state. I don't know if it makes a difference, but I will check!:) ....I might need it some day!

In Addition,

YOUR car that you smashed a few weeks ago, Did you have full coverage, extending to a rental?...I understand that you don't want to make another claim. It might be the only "Easy way out", Even if it means your Ins. will sky-rocket.

Other than that.. Not only(out-of-pocket) will you have to pay the person whose car you hit. But also to the rental company(out -of-pocket) for the damages to their car.

If you didn't have the full coverage, (And I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong) Then you're screwed.
