What is the name of your state? California

I was wondering if there is any exception to the 1 year law:
I fell and broke my ankle at a marina August 31, 2002. I didn't realize that some of the damage was permanent until recently, as I've only been walking unassisted since March, with 6 months to discover if it would heal completely. The ankle got better to a point; walking is still difficult, as is standing for long periods and I am still unable to do certain tasks at work.

Thank you,

Deb
