Hello,
I have a question pertaining to pets vs. car
Is there any thing that someone can do in the loss of a dog when hit by a car and died.

Facts:
Car was speeding
Street was located in a mobile home park
Dog ran into street
People dont think it was there fault

I'm sorry for your loss. I understand you're angry. I understand you're upset.

You had the responsibility to keep your pet under your direct control and on a leash (if you're in the city limits or if your area has leash laws.) Had your pet been on a leash the event wouldn't have happened.

It wasn't their fault. Your dog had no business being in the street. You should have had your pet under your control.

I have two dogs, and, as their owner, it is my responsibility to keep them restrained so they will be safe. NEVER leave a dog off leash or off tie-out if they have direct access to an area where autos go. It's OUR job to keep them safe.

Personally, my dogs are only off-leash outside in our fenced rear yard, inside a fenced dog park, or on the beach thirty feet down the lakefront bluff from where cars can go. They are never allowed to be at risk from vehicles.

YOU should not have had your dog off leash.

**A: a dog is considered personal property but you have no case since it was not a deliberate act and the cause of the problem was the loose dog.
