| | | police chase crash victim What is the name of your state? Indiana
I was hit broadside by a guy running from the police. His speed at impact was near 100mph in a 30mph zone.
He had no insurance but I have uninsured coverage of 100,000.
I have all ready lost 2 family members as a result of idiots running from the police and I could and should have been the 3rd.(but by the grace of luck)
I sustained moderate injuries to my knees and legs, have missed work for 6 weeks now.
My insurance company ajuster called me to say that I would receive lost income as well as pain and suffering.....what can I expect and should I have an atty? What is the name of your state? |

| | | Too bad to hear of the loss of family!
As far as Im concerned. You will be covered for all or most of the financial loss. If your ins says they'll cover everything. |

| | | Sounds like police officers in your town need to stop chasing people.
A lawyer would not be a bad idea. You should expect to receive whatever lost wages you would have earned had you gone to work - so you will have to submit pay stubs. And lost wages is only for UNPAID time off - if you were paid for vacation days, disability, sick time, etc then you can't get lost wages. Pain and suffering is subjective. |

Let's say he stole a cookie from Circle K. Would you engage him in a 100 mph pursuit???
Now let's say he just fled from the scene of a murder after killing a family of 5.
Kind of changes things a little doesn't it??? |

But I do know it's a contentious issue - I'll stop

but yeah, there are two sides to it. And when an innocent person gets in the way of a high speed chase, they never seem to fare too well. |

| | | Well 3 members of the same family got run down, apparantly on separate occasions, by people being chased by police, I can only guess how many OTHER times it's happened, it just indicates a problem to me. I'm not one of THOSE people who think police should never chase anyone, but that seems excessive no? | |
