Policy canceled only 2 days after due date?

What is the name of your state? South Carolina

I was in an auto accident, unfortunately my fault. I called my insurance company to process the claim and give them the accident number and they told me they never recieved my payment (which was mailed) and that my insurance policy had been canceled on the 4th. My payment was due on the 2nd of the month. My question to you is how can they cancel my policy within 2 days of the due date?

They can cancel your policy 1 minute after your payment is late. 2 days is nothing.

Some companies have a grace period, some don't. They may be willing to reinstate your policy retroactively since you had mailed your payment, but they may not.

Paying bills online or by phone is good.
