What is the name of your state? Florida

My 40 year old brother has recently moved from Illinois to our parents home in Florida. He has taken up legal Florida residency using their address. He will reside with them for a short time while he gets back on his feet financially. He is working fulll time. He has no assets or equity. He lost his Illinois drivers license years ago due to DWI's. He is now cleared to get a license and will get a Florida one. He will buy an inexpensive older used car which will require only minimum PIP and liability insurance.

If he should get in an accident resulting in an award over and above what the insurance company will pay, could the plaintiff or insurance company go after any of my parents assets, or in any way would they become liable or be sued?

Thank you.

not if he is only staying at their address.

if they cosign something or have the insurance in their name or purchase the vehicle in their name youhave different issues.

your brother is an adult and if the only thing your parents are doing is letting him stay with them , they can't be held liable for an accident.
