Property Damage

In California:
I had gone to a new place about 50 miles from home. There I ran in to a wooden fence of a commercial establishment and knocked off a panel.
I was too panicky to report it to the people there and since no one fromthat establishemnt came out - I drove away. There were others though who saw me.

Now I do not have their contact information. The damages did not seem to be extensive.
What should I do?
Can I be subject to police action in case someone got my license plates and reports me?
