Property Damage

What is the name of your state? GEORGIA

Background: I was in an accident that was not my fault. I was in the far right exit lane to merge onto another highway. The 18 wheeler was in the lane just to my left that is both an exit lane and travel lane. Traffic in his lane was slowing and backing up as that lane turn into an exit only lane past the overpass to exit northbound on the highway I was exiting southbound. He didn't have the distance to stop in time and avoid rear-ending the stopped traffic in his lane. Hence, he tried to change into my lane (now, he is at my 10-11 o'clock position) as I travelled past him. Unfortunately, he collided into me gouging my truck along the full driver's side length like gutting a fish. I had glass all over me. The cop issued me a subpeona to court. I'll have to appear in traffic court as a witness to this person's conviction. Do I have to go?

More importantly, my vehicle is totaled and worth about $1100 before the accident according to the Blue Book estimate. Of course, the utility of the vehicle was worth more to me as it was paid-for, reliable, well maintained and mechanically good transportation. What are my options so that I can get more money to purchase a similar vehicle to put me in the same status as before? Eleven hundred dollars can't purchase much; so, am I just SOL?
