Property Damage to another Vehicle

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA

Over the weekend I was driving on the highway when a plastic patio chair flew off the back of my pickup truck and caused damage to the front bumper of the vehicle behind me, I spoke with my car insurance and they said that it's a homeowners insurance claim and that it is not considered a car accident. The CHP, took a police report, I have pictures of the damage, the front bumper had various dents, What should I do??????

Pay for the damage you caused...

It's a given i'm going to end up paying for the damage, I'm just concerned of what other measures should I use to protect my assets and limit my liability in this matter?, I don't want the person to turn around and seek more recompensation than what they deserve, you know like sue me for things that are frivolous and try to get a larger settlement.

Have the damaged person sign a full release of liability when you give them the dough.

(A lawyer can draw one up for you.)

I think I disagree with your car insurance.

Okay, i'm going to have her fill out a full release of liability before I pay her, i'm also recording all phone conversations, text messages, and emails, as well. Hope this is a simple solution and I don't get dragged into a lengthy ordeal.

I SERIOUSLY hope that you have the other person's permission for this...

Or you could just turn it in to your homeowners insurance.

Yes, I have the other person's consent when recording the phone conversation both written and verbal consent, I'm still waiting on my homeowner's insurance to see if my policy covers the damage
