Propoerty Damage for NJ turnpike

What is the name of your state? NJ

HI, I was in an accident a few weeks ago. I got cut off another car and I hit the gaurd rail of the turnpike. Due to the snow piled on the side I could not figure where exactly the car hit the guard rail and wha tthe damage was.
now the turnpike is asking me to pay $1500 to fix a bent gaurd rail. How can they prove that the damage was not pre-exisitng. If you drive on the turnpike there are so many places where the guard rail has been damaged. How do they know that the damage they fixed was from my car?
What are my options here, can i fight this?

thanks.

Turn it into your insurance co. They will handle it.
