Rear ended by a DUI!

YOUR STATE NAME - California

My mom just got rear ended and her car (a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo) was totalled by a drunk driver, the cops came and arrested him immediately.

What are the steps to procede from here?

Currently my mom is on some medication for her soreness, and possible neck problems.

The car is in a lot collecting a $25/day storage fee.

What would be the first step in persuing this and protecting ourselves, if we rent a car will it be covered under the terms of the suit? What about the storage fees? Should I get an attorney ASAP or should I wait to see what the insurance agency is going to say?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Mark Moros

My response:

Your Mom needs to contact her insurance company to report the accident, and to get the Rodeo out of storage. Then, get it repaired or paid.

Then, get her to a personal injury attorney. On top of all other damages to which she is entitled, she may also be entitled to "punitive damages" too.

Do these things now.
