re: a red light accident

I am by no means a lawyer, but in most states I think
the laws for this are pretty much the same....

You are not supposed to enter an intersection until
"it is safe to do so". There's nothing worse than
those people who "sneak" into an intersection just as
the light is changing to red, and then block a lane.
Those people are very deserving of tickets. :)

More along your point, though...you shouldn't have
entered the intersection. If you didn't take notice
of the light before you entered, it's your fault (hence
the ticket you received)...the officer made the right
call.

Again, I'm not a lawyer...but from my personal
experience, consider yourself lucky if noone was
hurt, and the driver doesn't sue you. If you have
insurance (which I assume you do), pay your deductable,
take the hit on your insurance rates, get a new vehicle,
and move on.
