What is the name of your state? CA when am I required to release medical informarion? statement I settled my claim with the person's insurance company that hit me head on. They settled for the max she had. I have now filed with my underinsured polcy. I have given my insurance all the medical records. They want some clarification from one of my doctors. But they want me to give them permission get all records as far back as 5 years. Is this needed?

My response:

A proper answer for you is far more complicated than a simple yes or no. You need to speak with an attorney to determine your constitutional privacy rights versus the insurance company's need to know versus your claimed injuries - - etc., etc.

To even give you a "generalized response" could be hazardous to your first party claim.

See your local attorney for a discussion.
