| Road hazzard damage. Yesterday I (and a number of other drivers) ran over the worst road debris I've ever seen. The debris was a mixture of large sheets of wood and large lengths of angle-iron. It happened on the southbound side of IH-35 in Live Oak, Texas (San Antonio Metro area).
My question is: Do I have a legitimate claim that can be paid by some agency for damage to my tire and rim of my truck. The tire was blown and the rim dented when I could not avoid running over a section of angle-iron approximately 12 feet in length. We called the Live Oak Police to report the hazzard after I changed my tire, and they responded that it had already been picked up. There was a lot of shredded tires in the next mile or so after the debris which tells me that it could have been there for some time, especially since I saw only one other car changing a tire when I was stopped. I have replaced the tire, but my rim still needs to be replaced.
Thank you in advance for your time.
